The harmonic drive reducer operates through a unique elastic deformation principle. The elliptical wave generator is installed on the input shaft with built-in thin-walled ball bearings. The flexible spline is a thin cup-shaped elastic metal part, and the fixed circular spline has two more gear teeth than the flexible spline. When the wave generator rotates, the flexible spline deforms periodically. The long-axis teeth mesh with the rigid spline, while the short-axis teeth separate. Relying on the tooth difference, it produces high reduction ratio transmission, converts high-speed input into low-speed and high-torque output, and ensures accurate power transmission
Advantages

This harmonic drive reducer features an ultra-wide transmission ratio range, with single-stage reduction ratios of 50 to 300, and the maximum can reach 60000. About 30% of gear teeth mesh simultaneously, greatly improving load capacity and stability. It achieves zero-backlash meshing, ultra-high transmission accuracy, smooth operation and low noise, perfectly meeting the strict precision requirements of high-end automation and precision equipment.
- Ultra Compact & Lightweight Structure
Compared with traditional gear reducers, the harmonic drive reducer has an extremely miniaturized and integrated design. Under the same output torque, its volume is reduced by 2/3 and weight is reduced by 1/2. The lightweight and small-size design saves installation space, which is highly suitable for compact equipment such as humanoid robots, collaborative robot joints and portable precision instruments.
- Rich Specifications & Upgraded Durability
It covers diversified product forms including component sets, servo mount gearheads and integrated gear units. Multiple flexible spline structures such as cup type, hat type and flat type are optional. By adopting new lightweight materials and optimized bearing design, it effectively extends service life, reduces fatigue loss of flexible spline, and balances manufacturing difficulty and long-term operating stability.
This reducer also has certain limitations. The flexible spline is subject to alternating fatigue load, with high processing difficulty and large starting torque. Manufacturers strictly control machining accuracy, transmission error and backlash to improve overall reliability
